After a long 15-year pause, the inter-college sports competition under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chattogram, resumed this year with the successful completion of the Cox’s Bazar district qualifiers. 

The sporting event began this morning (December 1, 2025) at the Cox’s Bazar Government College field, with the participation of nearly all colleges from across the district.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Alam, the esteemed College Inspector of the Chattogram Education Board, as the chief guest. 

Cox’s Bazar Government College Principal Professor Mohang Amirul Anwar Chowdhury presided over the event.

Associate Professor Mohammad Nazim Uddin of the Botany Department served as the convenor of the district-level organizing committee. 

Among the special guests were the Associate Professor and Head of the History Department, as well as the Secretary of the Teachers’ Council, Mr. Muhammad Ullah. 

The ceremony was conducted by Ms. Shiuli Sarker, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management.

Highlighting the significance of sports, Chief Guest Professor Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Alam said:
“Sports play a vital role not only in physical fitness but also in mental development. This competition is not merely about winning or losing; it teaches discipline, teamwork, and the courage to face challenges. We firmly believe today’s youth will take the nation forward with pride.”

In his remarks, Principal Professor Mohang Amirul Anwar Chowdhury encouraged the young athletes, stating:
“I am delighted to see this event being held again after many years. Alongside academic excellence, sports play a crucial role in fostering self-confidence and laying the groundwork for future success. Your strong participation reflects the commitment of Cox’s Bazar students to both education and athletics.”

Following the ceremony, separate track and field qualifiers were held for boys and girls.

Boys’ Events Included:

100m, 400m, 1500m, 4×400m relay, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw.

Girls’ Events Included:

100m, 200m, 400m, 4×400m relay, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw.

In the boys’ category, Kutubdia Government College dominated, winning the 100m, 400m, 4×400m relay, and high jump events. 

Cox’s Bazar Government College clinched gold in the 1500m and discus throw, while Dulahazara Degree College excelled in long jump and javelin throw. Cox’s Bazar City College emerged victorious in the shot put.

In the girls’ events, Ukhiya College topped the table with outstanding victories in five disciplines — 200m, 400m, long jump, shot put, and javelin throw. 

Cox’s Bazar Government Women’s College secured wins in the 100m and high jump, while Chakaria Residential Women’s College triumphed in the 4×400m relay and discus throw.

Athletes who qualified from this stage will now represent Cox’s Bazar district in the main phase of the inter-college sports competition organized by the Chattogram Education Board.
