To cultivate reading habits among students and encourage creative thinking, the nationwide book-reading programme jointly run by bKash and Bishwo Shahitto Kendro has now been expanded to Cox’s Bazar.

This initiative will distribute 40,000 books across 330 educational institutions in the country this year.

As part of the programme, a book distribution ceremony was recently held at the Cox’s Bazar BIAM Foundation auditorium.

Students from BIAM Laboratory School & College, Saikat Girls’ High School, Kolatoli Adarsha High School, and Cox’s Bazar Model High School received books during the event.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md A. Mannan attended the event and handed books to the students. Also present were Khondoker Md Asaduzzaman, retired secretary and former trustee of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, Saima Ahsan, Vice-President of bKash’s Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Department, along with other guests.

To make the reading campaign more engaging, a quiz competition on contemporary topics was arranged for students from grades 6 to 10.

At the end of the programme, 40 quiz winners received prizes.

Bishwo Shahitto Kendro has long been conducting book-reading initiatives across Bangladesh to help students grow into enlightened and well-rounded individuals by nurturing a habit of reading beyond textbooks.

Since 2014, bKash has been supporting the expansion and effectiveness of this programme. To date, nearly 400,000 books have been distributed nationwide, benefiting over 3,300 educational institutions and reaching more than 3.3 million readers across the country.
