The busy Court Building area of Cox’s Bazar city has recently become a hub for a traditional delicacy from Ilishia—its famous and flavourful buffalo yogurt.

Known for its rich texture and natural sweetness, the yogurt has already gained popularity among locals and tourists alike.

Temporary stalls selling buffalo yogurt are set up at the court premises from morning until evening.

Vendor Arifullah said the yogurt is prepared in a completely natural way using pure buffalo milk collected from rural households in Ilishia.

“No chemicals or artificial ingredients are used, which is why the taste remains authentic and healthy,” he added.

The price has been kept within the reach of ordinary consumers. The yogurt is sold at Tk 500 per kilogram, while a half kilogram costs Tk 250.

Buyers say the thickness and taste of Ilishia’s buffalo yogurt are unmatched. Many customers purchase it regularly, while others buy extra to take home for family members and relatives.

According to locals, the presence of traditional rural food items in Cox’s Bazar enriches the city’s food culture. With proper patronage and promotion, Ilishia’s buffalo yogurt could gain wider recognition as one of Cox’s Bazar’s signature local delicacies.
