Despite the absence of any weekly or public holiday, the number of tourists to Cox’s Bazar sea beach has surged.

At the same time, the winter sea remains calm, with the vast blue waters captivating tourists. Red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted along the beach, indicating that swimming conditions are currently safe.

According to Sea Safe Life Guards, due to the chilly weather, fewer tourists are entering the water in the morning.

However, as the sun rises and temperatures become more comfortable, tourists gradually begin swimming in the salty waves.

Most swimmers are gathering at three designated points—Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha. For safety reasons, the Sea Safe Lifeguard authority has urged visitors to strictly follow several guidelines.

Specific swimming zones have been clearly marked at these three points, where lifeguard services are actively deployed.

Red-and-yellow flags mark the boundaries of these safe zones, and entering the sea outside the marked areas may be dangerous, they warned.

Mohammad Osman Gani, Supervisor and Senior Lifeguard of Sea Safe Lifeguard, told Cox’s Bazar Life that the sea is currently calm due to the winter season, which is why red-and-yellow flags have been displayed.

However, to avoid any risk, they advised tourists to swim only within the designated areas where lifeguard services are available.

On Thursday (January 15), low tide is expected at 1:48 pm, while high tide will begin at 8:21 pm.

Authorities have reiterated that ignoring warning signals or lifeguards’ instructions while swimming could lead to serious accidents at any time.
