Traditional agrarian life continues to endure in the rural areas adjoining Cox’s Bazar’s Marine Drive, even as the modern city expands nearby. At dawn each day, farmers in these villages begin their work, maintaining a way of life deeply rooted in agriculture and livestock rearing.
One such farmer is Salam, who spends his mornings preparing feed for his cattle. Using straw, grass, and other locally available ingredients, he carefully mixes the feed by hand, ensuring proper nutrition for his animals.
According to Salam, the health and productivity of cattle depend largely on timely and balanced feeding. “If the cattle remain healthy, the household also remains secure,” he said, adding that preparing feed himself allows him to pay closer attention to the animals’ well-being.
Behind the scenic beauty of Marine Drive lies this quiet rural settlement, where people continue their struggle for survival out of the spotlight. The hard work of farmers like Salam sustains the livestock sector and preserves the distinct character of rural life along the coast.
