The Chief of Army Staff, General Waker Uz Zaman, on Thursday visited the Cox’s Bazar area in connection with the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum, and stressed the need for security personnel to conduct themselves in a citizen-friendly manner during the polls.
During the visit, the army chief held a coordination meeting at the conference hall of the BIAM Foundation regional centre with senior military officers, members of various law enforcement agencies, and officials of the civil administration.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate, the meeting discussed inter-agency coordination and overall security management to ensure the upcoming national election is held in a peaceful, free, fair, and neutral manner.
General Waker Uz Zaman emphasised the importance of professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience, and citizen-friendly behaviour while performing election-related duties.
He also inspected the activities of army personnel deployed under the ‘In Aid to the Civil Power’ arrangement and provided necessary operational guidelines on the ground.
Senior officials from the army, air force, different law enforcement agencies, and the civil administration were present during the visit.
