State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque has said the government is working to establish sports as a sustainable and promising profession, with initiatives already underway to bring talented athletes under structured salary schemes.

He made the remarks during a visit to the regional training centre of the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan in Cox’s Bazar on Friday afternoon.

Aminul Haque said institutions like BKSP play a vital role in identifying talented athletes from remote areas and developing them into internationally competitive players. He added that the government is constantly working to modernise such institutions and make them more effective.

During the visit, the state minister toured various sports facilities and training grounds in the center. He also observed training sessions across different disciplines and interacted directly with the trainees.

He inquired about the progress of the trainees, available facilities and future plans, encouraging them to pursue excellence in their respective fields.

Among others present were Member of Parliament for Cox’s Bazar-3 constituency Lutfur Rahman Kazal, Deputy Commissioner Md A Mannan, Deputy Director of the BKSP regional training center Rokon Uddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Ramu Police Station Monirul Islam Bhuiyan, senior officials from the ministry, local representatives, and political leaders.

Following the visit, local representatives and officials emphasised the need to expand sports infrastructure in the Cox’s Bazar region and improve the quality of training. They stressed the importance of increased government support in the sector.

They expressed hope that the state minister’s visit would inject new momentum into the local sports arena and inspire young athletes.

The BKSP regional training centre in Ramu is considered a key facility for nurturing promising athletes from the southern region, playing an important role in developing skilled players at the national level.
