Cox’s Bazar is experiencing intense heat during the month of Boishakh, disrupting daily life. For most of the day, scorching sunshine and high temperatures are making it difficult for people to go outside.
The highest temperature recorded on Wednesday in Cox’s Bazar was 34.5 degrees Celsius. At the same time, with humidity levels around 60 percent, the heat feels even more intense, adding significant discomfort.
Assistant meteorologist Md Abdul Hannan of the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office said that such heat is common during Boishakh, but higher humidity levels are making temperatures feel more severe.
He added that the temperature is likely to remain similar over the coming days, with occasional light gusts of wind.
The extreme heat has hit day labourers, rickshaw drivers, and outdoor workers the hardest.
Many are becoming exhausted while working under the sun, and some have fallen ill.
Across the town, demand for coconut water, beverages, and cold drinks has increased as people seek relief from the heat.
Doctors have advised people to drink plenty of water, eat light meals, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun. Extra care has been recommended for children and the elderly.
