After several days of intense heat and humid weather, rainfall has finally brought relief to the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar.

Intermittent rain since early Sunday restored a sense of comfort across the town, significantly reducing the prevailing heat.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, Cox’s Bazar recorded 49 millimetres of rainfall in the 24 hours until 9:00am on Sunday.

Assistant Meteorologist Md Abdul Hannan of the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office said the increased rainfall was caused by seasonal weather conditions formed over the Bay of Bengal.

He also said that there was a possibility of further rainfall or light drizzle on Monday as well.

He also said the sky might remain mostly cloudy throughout the day, with moderate rainfall likely in some areas.

On Saturday, Cox’s Bazar recorded the highest temperature of the current season. According to Abdul Hannan, the district’s highest temperature that day reached 36.0 degrees Celsius.

The intense heat had caused severe suffering among the public in Cox’s Bazar town and surrounding areas, particularly among day laborers, low-income workers, and people engaged in outdoor activities.

The presence of people on roads and in public places had also declined noticeably after noon due to the scorching weather.

However, the situation changed after rainfall began early Sunday.

The cooler weather brought relief to public life, and people gradually resumed their normal activities.

Although waterlogging in some parts of the town caused temporary inconvenience, the rain significantly reduced the overall intensity of the heat.

Meanwhile, the sea beach in the tourist town of Cox’s Bazar presented a different kind of beauty amid the rain-soaked atmosphere. Despite the rainfall, a noticeable number of tourists were seen visiting the beach.

Relevant authorities advised people to remain cautious during periods of heavy rainfall and changing weather conditions to avoid possible accidents and disruptions.
