A two-day science festival in 2026 has begun at Cox’s Bazar Government Women’s College with rallies, discussions, and a series of science-based competitions and exhibitions.
A colourful rally and discussion meeting were organised on Monday morning to mark the inauguration of the festival.
Following the opening discussion in the college hall, a rally was held on campus, and a parade was held through the town’s main streets before returning to the college premises.
Acting Principal Professor Rezaul Karim Mohammad Tarek attended the programme as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, he said science festivals play an important role in building a scientifically minded generation.
He said that participation in the festival’s activities would inspire students to engage with science and technology and encourage them to explore new paths to innovation.
College sources said this was the first time a science fair had been organised at the institution, and nine innovative projects were showcased at the event.
Associate Professor Shamim Ahmed, the convener of the Science Festival, chaired the discussion meeting.
Among those who addressed the program were Associate Professor Mohammad Shah Alam and Assistant Professors Rezaul Karim, Sakih Uddin Kader, and Afroza Sultana.
The first day of the festival also featured science lectures, an idea contest, science poster presentations, and a science olympiad with student participation.
Organisers said the second day of the festival would include a science quiz competition, Rubik’s Cube competition, memory test, science seminar, science debate and prize-giving ceremony.
