For housewife Marzina Akter and her husband Amin Hossain, a fisherman, collecting seashells along the coast has become a vital source of income. Living with their two sons and three daughters in Boro Chara Village, the family depends on both fishing and handmade shell crafts for survival. Marzina said small shells are gathered from wet beach sand, cleaned, sun-dried for weeks, washed again, and turned into decorative necklaces. She sells the finished products wholesale to small beach vendors, earning around 15,000 to 20,000 taka per month.
