For more than a decade, Alhaj Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Bakul, owner and chairman of Maheshkhali Tours and Travels, has provided Hajj and Umrah-related services, training, and guidance to intending pilgrims in Cox’s Bazar. Alongside helping people prepare for their religious journeys, he says his work has also created employment opportunities for young people.

Bakul said his main objective was to help people from Cox’s Bazar perform Hajj and Umrah without unnecessary difficulties and ensure they receive the support they need.

“For more than a decade, I have been providing various Hajj and Umrah-related services to people in Cox’s Bazar. I also arrange training and guidance so pilgrims can prepare before undertaking Hajj and Umrah. My work has created employment opportunities for many young people,” he said.

He stressed the importance of accurate information, proper preparation and clear guidance for pilgrims. The organisation aims to inform travellers about essential requirements in advance, answer questions, and provide assistance and guidance on religious obligations.

Located on Thana Road in Cox’s Bazar town, Maheshkhali Tours and Travels provides Hajj and Umrah management services and arranges other travel-related activities. It operates across Maheshkhali upazila, with branches in several locations, including Hoanak union.

The organisation regularly arranges Hajj training workshops, reunions for former pilgrims, discussion meetings and prayer gatherings. These programmes aim to familiarise intending pilgrims with Hajj rituals, necessary preparations and the rules they must observe during their journeys.

Making Hajj and Umrah services more accessible to people in Cox’s Bazar and Maheshkhali remains one of the organisation’s key objectives. It also aims to expand its services and create further employment opportunities for young people in the sector.

Drawing on his experience, Bakul said he hoped to continue supporting intending pilgrims.

He believes proper preparation, reliable guidance, and timely assistance can help travellers complete their sacred journeys with greater ease and confidence.
