Border Guard Bangladesh’s (BGB) Naikhongchhari Battalion (11 BGB) destroyed 743,058 yaba tablets worth Tk 22.29 crore, seized from various border outposts in Naikhongchhari upazila, Bandarban.

The drugs were seized during anti-narcotics operations between August 14, 2025 and October 29, 2026, according to a BGB press release.

The BGB destroyed the seized yaba tablets, valued at Tk 222,917,400, on Thursday, October 29, under the overall management of the Naikhongchhari Battalion.

The battalion commander, a senior judicial magistrate from Bandarban, along with other officers and BGB personnel, attended the destruction programme.

The press release said the battalion had intensified anti-narcotics operations along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border under a zero-tolerance policy in line with directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

It said the battalion faced various challenges in preventing drug smuggling and would continue strengthening its operations.

Over the past year, the battalion seized drugs and other goods worth a total of Tk 73.11 crore and arrested 44 accused, the release added.

BGB said it remained committed to preventing drug smuggling across the sensitive Bangladesh-Myanmar border and sought public cooperation and awareness to support its anti-narcotics efforts.
