The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has confirmed that Cyclone ‘Dana’ is unlikely to land in Cox’s Bazar.

Abdul Hannan, assistant meteorologist at Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, confirmed that while the cyclone poses no direct threat to the district, light rainfall is expected, and there is a possibility of 2 to 3 feet of tidal surges.

According to Special Weather Bulletin No ten from the Meteorological Department, as of noon today, Cyclone Dana was located 570 km southwest of Chattogram Port, 535 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar Port, 435 km south-southwest of Mongla Port, and 435 km south-southwest of Payra Port.

The cyclone is expected to move north-northwest and could cross the Indian coastline between Puri and Sagar Island along the northern Odisha-West Bengal coast by midnight tonight.

As a precaution, the ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3.
