The Cox’s Bazar district administration honored Shahida Akter Ripa, a standout player from the victorious SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 team, and Salah Uddin Shahed, a rising talent in the national U-17 football squad, for their remarkable achievements.

The reception took place on Thursday evening at the indoor auditorium of the Bir Shrestha Ruhul Amin Stadium.

The district administration, with support from the district council and the district sports association, organized the event, which celebrated the contributions of these two young athletes.

The district sports officer gave an opening speech and warmly welcomed the players with floral bouquets.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin then presented them with honorary crests, traditional shawls, and financial grants.

Expressing her gratitude, Ripa shared, “It feels wonderful to be recognized in my hometown. When I first came to this stadium in 2016, there were very few girls playing. Now, seeing so many of them inspired by us is truly rewarding.”

Shahed echoed similar sentiments, saying, “This recognition is unforgettable. Representing Cox’s Bazar on the national stage is a matter of immense pride for me.”
