Seashells are a valuable natural resource along the coastline of Cox’s Bazar. The region is home to natural habitats of various shells, and many coastal residents rely on collecting them from the sea for their livelihood.
In areas like Inani and Dariyanagar, locals gather seashells daily during high and low tides. These shells are then crafted into various decorative and functional items, including necklaces, earrings, bangles, rings, chandeliers, shell lamps, and even bags. Additionally, shells are used to make intricate window and door nets, further expanding their commercial demand.
With the increasing popularity of shell-based crafts, Cox’s Bazar is witnessing a growing market for these unique products, presenting significant economic opportunities for local artisans and traders.
