With a mission to raise awareness about plastic pollution, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainable environmental solutions, mountaineer Ikramul Hasan Shakil has embarked on an extraordinary journey—walking from Cox’s Bazar to the summit of Mount Everest.

On February 25, at noon, Shakil began his ambitious “Sea to Summit” expedition from the waves of Inani Beach along the Marine Drive road. Over the next three months, he aims to traverse 1,300 kilometers on foot across Bangladesh, India, and Nepal before scaling the 29,031-foot peak of Everest. He aims to complete the journey with minimal environmental impact while advocating for better plastic waste management, carbon footprint reduction, and sustainable conservation efforts.

If successful, Shakil will set a Guinness World Record as the youngest individual to walk such a long distance before conquering Everest.

Speaking about his mission, Shakil acknowledged the risks of the journey. Still, he expressed his determination, stating, “The path ahead is extremely challenging, but if I can achieve this for my country, it will be the greatest accomplishment of my life.”

The leading food brand PRAN supports the expedition, with Mr. Noodles as the official snack partner. Additional partners include the Bangladesh Mountaineering and Trekking Club, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Makalu-E-Traders Nepal, and Sistema Bangladesh.
