Momochen has made history as the first barrister from the Rakhine community in Cox’s Bazar. On March 27, she was officially called to the Bar at the prestigious Call to the Bar ceremony held at Middle Temple Inn in London, United Kingdom.
Hailing from the Boro Rakhine Para in Moheshkhali Municipality, Momochen is the eldest daughter of Lamong, a retired district and sessions judge, and Molichen, the youngest daughter of late Sa Ching, a prominent Burmese market businessman in Cox’s Bazar. She is also the granddaughter of the late Aung Ching, a well-known trader in the region.
Momochen’s academic journey is marked by excellence. She completed her O-Level and A-Level at Little Jewels School in Chattogram before earning her LLB (Hons) from the University of the West of England (UWE), UK. She then completed the Bar Training Course at Middle Temple Inn, which led to her calling to the Bar.
Notably, Momochen is the first barrister from Bangladesh’s Rakhine community, following in the footsteps of her father, Lamong, who was the first judge from the community.
Her proud parents have expressed gratitude and sought blessings for their daughter’s future success.
