April is fully underway, bringing with it intense heat. Despite the sweltering weather, people must step out for work and daily activities. Concern over the dust-filled air and rising temperatures in Cox’s Bazar has grown. The city’s roads are increasingly dust-covered, making it difficult for pedestrians and commuters. Visiting the streets reveals that many residents wear masks to protect against airborne dust and pollution.

Medical professionals emphasize that wearing a mask protects oneself from harmful airborne particles.

Meanwhile, mask vendors report a noticeable surge in sales. “Over the past few days, more people have been buying masks, boosting our business. We usually sell masks ranging from Tk 10 to Tk 50,” said a local vendor. He added that while various masks are available, fabric masks are the most popular choice. “Two-layered masks are more effective than single-layered ones,” he explained.
