Tourist numbers at Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach dropped significantly on Tuesday due to adverse weather conditions.
A visit to Kolatoli, Laboni and Sugandha points in the afternoon showed a sparse presence of tourists.
No one was seen entering the sea at Kolatoli and Laboni points, while a few tourists at Sugandha point were seen bathing cautiously.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has hoisted Local Warning Signal No. 3 at the seaports of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Payra and Mongla due to inclement weather.
Senior lifeguard Mohammad Shukkur reported that rough weather had impacted tourist turnout since morning. “We are tirelessly working to ensure that no tourist encounters any danger while entering the sea,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has hoisted Local Warning Signal No. 3 at the seaports of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Payra and Mongla due to inclement weather.
Around midday, Cox’s Bazar experienced nearly an hour of heavy rainfall. A salt farmer reportedly died after lightning struck him during the same period.
Assistant meteorologist Abdul Hannan of the Cox’s Bazar weather office said there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall continuing for the next four days (96 hours).
Authorities have urged tourists to remain cautious before entering the sea amid the ongoing adverse weather.
