Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum, all polling centres in Cox’s Bazar district have been brought under CCTV surveillance. The District Returning Officer’s office said that a total of 598 polling centres are now being monitored round the clock through installed CCTV cameras.
According to the Returning Officer’s office, CCTV footage from polling centres can be directly observed through Upazila Command Centres set up at the offices of the respective Upazila Nirbahi Officers (Assistant Returning Officers).
On Wednesday morning, Md. A. Mannan, Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer of Cox’s Bazar, visited the CCTV management system installed at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer’s office. During the visit, he exchanged views with election officials and reviewed the effectiveness of the CCTV monitoring system.
The district administration said that these measures have been taken to ensure a free, safe, and festive election, and expressed hope for sincere cooperation from all concerned to maintain transparency and discipline throughout the voting process.
