Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha 2025, the Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone) has implemented special security measures to ensure the safe movement of passengers on waterways. This was announced in a press release on Tuesday (June 3) by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid.
He noted that since its inception, the Coast Guard has been tirelessly working to ensure the safety of coastal and riverside areas. The force regularly conducts patrols, joint operations, and special raids to prevent illegal activities and uphold public safety.
In preparation for Eid, heightened security measures have been introduced at key launch, ferry, and passenger terminals within the East Zone, including Chattogram’s Sadarghat, Bangla Bazar Ghat, Karnaphuli Ghat, Bridge Ghat, Kumira Ghat, Guptachhara Ghat, and Cox’s Bazar’s 6 No. Ghat, BIWTA Ghat, Adinath Temple Ghat, Magnama Ghat, Boroghob Ghat, and Dorbar Ghat.
These measures include increased patrolling, public awareness announcements, leaflet distribution, thorough inspections of suspicious individuals and vessels, and the scanning of passenger bags. Coast Guard personnel are also on high alert to prevent any potential sabotage.
Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid added that Coast Guard members are working around the clock, day and night, to ensure the safety of passengers during their Eid journeys. These activities will continue even after the holiday period.
