BNP Cox’s Bazar district president and the party’s candidate for the upcoming national election from Ukhiya–Teknaf (Cox’s Bazar-4) constituency, Shahjahan Chowdhury, on Saturday said that only BNP has a proven track record of sending Rohingyas back to Myanmar and would again ensure their repatriation if elected to form the next government.

“Rohingyas are citizens of MyanmarOnly Tarique Rahman has the ability to send the Rohingyas back to their own country.y“Every time BNP was in power, we were able to facilitate their peaceful return,” said the former whip..

He made the remarks while addressing BNP’s ‘new membership collection and renewal campaign’ at the Ukhiya Government High School premises on Saturday afternoon, organised as part of the party’s central programme.

The event’s chief speaker, Selina Sultana Nishita, former central joint secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and head of the membership drive team, urged party activists to remain active in implementing the 31-point reform proposals announced by Tarique Rahman.
“Through these 31 points, we aim to build a progressive nation.”nFor this, nationalist forces must continue working together, and we must ensure a decisive victory for the Sheaf of Paddy in the upcoming election,” she said..

The programme was presided over by Ukhiya upazila BNP president Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury, with general secretary Soltan Mahmud Chowdhury conducting the session. Leaders of BNP and its affiliated organisations also addressed the gathering, while a large number of grassroots activists from different units were present.
