Both sides of the Cox’s Bazar Marine Drive are now bursting with color as wild celosia flowers come into bloom this winter. The slender, flame-like blossoms in deep magenta and purple—locally known as Morog Jhuti (rooster comb)—are creating a delightful visual experience for travelers and nature lovers alike.
Although celosia grows naturally in the wild, the open landscape of Marine Drive, combined with the sea breeze and sunny weather, has helped the flowers spread quickly. From a distance, the swaying flower spikes resemble waves of purple and pink flames dancing along the roadside.
Many tourists are seen stopping to take photos with these vibrant wildflowers, mesmerized by the stunning contrast they add to the coastal scenery.
People who live there say these flowers make Marine Drive even more beautiful at the start of winter. They add life, color, and a refreshing sense of beauty to nature’s otherwise fading seasonal palette.
