In Baharchhara, a neighborhood in Cox’s Bazar city, children can often be seen playing street cricket.
When asked about the unique rules of their game, they explain that if the ball hits a building’s glass or roof, the batter is out.
A ball that hits the ground earns them four runs, while they can also score one or two runs, depending on the situation.
This is how the children adapt the traditional game to their surroundings.
Open spaces are becoming scarce with the rapid construction of multi-storied concrete buildings in Cox’s Bazar. For these children, the streets have become their makeshift playground.
