Cox’s Bazar observed National Fisheries Week 2025 today with a series of events, including a colorful rally, fish fry release, and an inaugural discussion meeting.

The rally, organized by the district implementation committee for the week, set off in the morning from the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises, parading through the main road with banners and festoons. Following the rally, different species of fish fry were released into Laldighi.

Later, an inaugural discussion meeting was held at the DC office’s conference room, with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Imran Hossain Sajib attending as the chief guest.

In his speech, the ADC emphasized that fisheries resources not only ensure food security but also play a significant role in the country’s economic prosperity.

Presided over by District Fisheries Officer Sujoy Pal, the event was also attended by the Deputy Director of BFRI, BFDC officials, representatives of government offices, law enforcement, hatcheries, fish traders, members of fishermen’s associations, political leaders, and local fish farmers.

The discussion highlighted key issues, including the safe production of fish, the conservation of fisheries resources, and the protection of fish sanctuaries.
