The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has recorded the highest temperature of the season in Cox’s Bazar, as intense heat caused severe discomfort in public life on Saturday.

Doctors advised people to avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary due to the prevailing heatwave-like conditions.

Assistant Meteorologist Abdul Hannan of the Cox’s Bazar weather office said that according to data recorded on Saturday, the district’s highest temperature reached 36.0 degrees Celsius, marking the highest temperature recorded so far this season.

He also said temperatures might decrease slightly over the next two days, but were likely to rise gradually again afterwards.

The intense heat has increased public suffering in Cox’s Bazar town and surrounding areas, particularly affecting day labourers, low-income workers and people engaged in outdoor activities.

The presence of people on roads and in public places also declined noticeably after noon due to the scorching weather.

Doctors warned that excessive heat increases the risk of heatstroke, dehydration and other health complications. They advised people to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement and recommended using umbrellas, drinking sufficient water and avoiding direct exposure to sunlight when outside.
