Juicy summer lychees have started appearing in different markets across Cox’s Bazar, bringing seasonal excitement among fruit lovers.

Although the final week of Boishakh is underway, early-season lychees have already arrived in local markets. Vendors were seen displaying fresh lychees at Goongachhtala, Thana Road, Boro Bazar, and several other areas of the town.

A visit to the markets showed crowds of buyers gathering to purchase the reddish, fresh fruit. Demand was particularly high among children and teenagers, and many consumers rushed to enjoy the popular summer delicacy at the start of the season.

Lychee trader Salim said 100 lychees were currently being sold for around Tk 180 each.

He said the supply would increase further once the month of Joishtho begins, as more lychees from different parts of the country enter the market, which could also reduce prices to some extent.

Traders said favorable weather conditions this year had raised hopes of a good lychee harvest. They expect market supply to increase significantly over the next few weeks.

The arrival of lychees has added fresh enthusiasm to local fruit markets during the hot summer season, as the juicy and flavourful fruit continues to attract customers across Cox’s Bazar.
