A meeting of the District Law and Order Committee was held in Cox’s Bazar, organized by the district administration.
The meeting took place on Sunday morning at the Shaheed ATM Zafar Alam Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, beginning with the national anthem and the participation of committee members.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin presided over the meeting.
At the beginning of his remarks, the Deputy Commissioner prayed for the souls of the martyrs of the July uprisings in Cox’s Bazar and across the country, wishing peace for the departed and a speedy recovery for the injured freedom fighters. He also paid his respects to all freedom fighters of July.
He emphasized that strict vigilance by all law enforcement agencies is in place to maintain law and order in the district. He reiterated that the administration and law enforcement agencies maintain a “zero-tolerance” stance against crimes such as illegal arms recovery, mob justice, extortion, and other criminal activities.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed sorrow over the recent deaths of three students from the University of Chittagong and stated that the Air Force, along with relevant departments, is actively engaged in the rescue operation for the missing student.
Additional Deputy Magistrate Md moderated the meeting. Shahidul Alam. Among those who spoke at the meeting were Superintendent of Police, Md. Saifuddin Shaheen, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammadul Haque, Secretary of Cox’s Bazar Development Authority Sanjida Begum, BNP District President and former Whip Shahjahan Chowdhury, District Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Noor Ahmed Anwari, City Ameer Abdullah Al Farooq, President of the Press Club Mahbubur Rahman, and student representative Shahedul Wahid Shahed, among others.
Government officials from various departments, law enforcement representatives, political leaders, student representatives, and other stakeholders attended the meeting.
Key issues discussed included maintaining law and order, stabilizing the prices of essential commodities in the market, preventing and controlling drug trafficking, enforcing the ban on single-use polythene and ensuring the use of jute packaging, strengthening safety measures on the beach and marking hazardous zones, collecting designated additional land taxes, alleviating traffic congestion and waterlogging, and preventing harassment of passengers by transport operators.
