The Department of English at Cox’s Bazar International University (CBIU) organized a vibrant theatre festival, staging the popular Hungarian playwright Fritz Karinthy’s comedy Refund.
The play was performed on the morning of 12 July at the CBIU auditorium, drawing laughter and thoughtful reflection from the audience. Organized by the Club for English Language and Literature, the satirical comedy explores the education system and the dynamics between teachers and students, brought to life through the spirited performances of the university’s talented students.
Lion Mohammad Mujibur Rahman, the founder and chairman of the CBIU Board of Trustees, attended as the chief guest, expressing gratitude to the teachers and students for this unique initiative. He also shared his hope that CBIU will grow into a full-fledged university in the days ahead.
Special guests included Mahbuba Sultana Shiuli, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Touhid Hossain Chowdhury; Dean Professor Kazi Mostain Billah; and Sadat Zaman Khan, Academic Advisor to the English Department and Associate Professor at Premier University’s English Department.
The auditorium came alive with the presence of teachers, students, and guests, who together celebrated their shared love for theatre and literature on this lively campus morning.
