As in the past two years, the Cox’s Bazar Central Eidgah Maidan will host two Eid-ul-Fitr congregations this year.

The first congregation will be held at 8:00 AM, led by Allama Mahmudul Haque, who has served as the Khatib of Cox’s Bazar Central Jame Mosque (now Model Jame Mosque) for 34 years.

The second congregation will take place at 9:00 AM, with Maulana Mufti Sulaiman Qasemi, Imam of Cox’s Bazar Model Jame Mosque and Khatib of the Central Eidgah Maidan Mosque, leading the prayers.

The decision was finalized during a preparatory meeting chaired by Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin and moderated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Nizam Uddin Ahmed.

Preparations to Welcome Worshippers

Cox’s Bazar Municipality’s Executive Engineer Parakram Chakma has confirmed that preparations for the district’s main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation at the Central Eidgah Maidan are nearly complete.

To ensure a smooth and comfortable prayer experience, two separate congregations have been arranged, each accommodating over 8,000 worshippers.

In anticipation of possible rain, tarpaulin covers have been installed over the prayer area.

Worshippers will enter through five designated gates. Comprehensive security measures have been implemented, including high-powered CCTV cameras and round-the-clock monitoring by law enforcement agencies.

A medical team will be on standby to provide immediate assistance in case of any health emergencies.

Moreover, security gates will be installed at key locations, including the stadium, the road south of the stadium, Hospital Road, and the District Council intersection.

Cox’s Bazar District Police has also introduced a two-tier security system. Facilities for ablution (wudu) have been arranged to accommodate 300 people at a time.

Comfort & Hospitality Arrangements

The Cox’s Bazar Municipality has ensured ample supplies of safe drinking water for worshippers. To address the high temperatures, over 110 fans, along with 15 stand fans and 15 air coolers, have been installed in the prayer area.

Upon entering through the five gates, worshippers will be welcomed with attar (perfumed oil), 500ml bottles of mineral water, dates, and tissues.

A monitoring cell will oversee operations throughout the event.

Moreover, 15 banners and decorative arches have been placed around the city to mark the occasion.
