Indoor plants are emerging as the top choice among visitors at the ongoing tree fair in Cox’s Bazar. Young buyers, in particular, are showing growing interest in houseplants that thrive in low light and help purify indoor air.

A visit to the fair reveals nursery owners showcasing popular indoor varieties like money plants, snake plants, peace lilies, and spider plants. Buyers are picking them up to decorate balconies, rooftops, bedrooms, study tables, or living rooms. Many are also purchasing ornamental potted plants as gifts.

Vendors report that demand for indoor plants is steadily increasing, driven by both aesthetic and environmental concerns.

Meanwhile, the duration of the tree fair and associated plantation campaign has been extended by three days, now running through July 30. Organizers say the extension comes in response to strong visitor turnout and enthusiastic participation.

Originally launched on July 21 as a weeklong event, the fair is open to the public daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with 20 stalls offering a wide range of saplings and seeds—spanning fruit-bearing, medicinal, and forest species—at affordable prices. The event also aims to raise awareness on environmental protection and the importance of greenery.
