After four consecutive days of rough weather, thousands of fishermen from the Cox’s Bazar coast are once again setting sail into the sea with renewed hopes of a fruitful catch. Although clouds lingered in the sky on Sunday morning, there was no rainfall, and weather conditions returned to normal.
As a result, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has withdrawn local cautionary signal no 3 for the seaports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra, allowing fishing operations to resume.
It is worth noting that the 58-day nationwide ban on fishing, imposed during the hilsa and marine fish breeding season, officially ended at midnight on June 11. However, persistent rough seas had delayed the fishermen’s return. Now, with calmer waters, they are heading back to the Bay of Bengal, once again chasing the dream of a good catch.
