After returning from deep-sea fishing, fishermen in Ukhiya’s Sonarpara Beach haul their boats ashore using a unique method. They attach temporary wheels under the traditional Sampan boats, tie them with ropes, and pull them up using tractors.
According to local sources, the cost of using a tractor to pull a boat ashore is around 300 BDT, while the rental fee for the wheels can go up to Tk200 —an added expense for the fishermen in their daily operations.
