The Naf River in Teknaf is a breathtaking natural wonder that attracts visitors year-round. Flowing into the Bay of Bengal, its estuary leads to Saint Martin’s Island, Bangladesh’s only coral island. Many tourists travel to Saint Martin’s via the Naf River, making it a vital route for coastal tourism.
The river runs along the eastern hilly region and is a natural boundary between Bangladesh and Myanmar. Interestingly, it is not a typical river but an extended part of the Bay of Bengal, giving it its saline waters.
Bangladesh’s Teknaf Upazila lies on the western bank, while the eastern side is home to Myanmar’s Arakan region and Akyab (Sittwe) province.
The Naf River has a length of 63 km, an average width of 1,364 meters, an average depth of 128 feet or 39 meters, and a maximum depth of 400 feet or 120 meters.
With its scenic beauty and strategic location, the Naf River remains a key attraction for nature lovers and travelers.
