The existing funding for Rohingya camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, will allow food assistance to continue until December 2025, according to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
“Our current resources are sufficient to maintain food support for the Rohingya until December of this year. However, beyond that period, no fresh funding commitments have yet been secured, which is a matter of concern for us,” said Sheikh Robiul Alam, WFP’s Programme Policy Officer.
He warned that if new funding is not confirmed in time, the essential food assistance program—crucial for the survival of the refugees—risks being disrupted.
On Tuesday (August 26), foreign diplomats, representatives of UN agencies, international organizations, and various political parties from Bangladesh visited the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya. During the visit, Sheikh Robiul Alam briefed the delegation on the current situation and pointed out the importance of continued international support.
