A day of heavy rainfall has caused hill streams to overflow into small canals, ponds, and rivers across Ukhiya Upazila. Continuous downpours, especially at night, have pushed rainwater from surrounding hills into nearby villages, affecting homes, agricultural land, and small poultry farms. Resident Abul Hossain of Inani village said muddy water mixed with sand has entered farmland, while embankments of duck and poultry farms have been damaged. However, as the canals remain connected to the sea, water is gradually draining, reducing the risk of major long-term damage.
