As the second day of Asharh began, the weather in Cox’s Bazar took a sudden turn. Since the morning of June 16, the city has been experiencing continuous rainfall, at times heavy, at other moments moderate.
The persistent downpour has brought life in the tourism hub of Cox’s Bazar to a near halt.
Since dawn, the sun has been hidden behind thick clouds. The relentless rain has led to waterlogging in various areas of the city, disrupting daily life.
This has particularly affected working individuals and tourists, causing significant inconvenience.
Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, has warned that Cox’s Bazar may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next few days. He advised people living in hilly areas to remain cautious.
The meteorologist further added that the monsoon winds are becoming more active in the coastal areas.
This is likely to result in ongoing rainfall in Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, and nearby districts, with possible thunderstorms in some regions.
The local administration has also raised concerns about potential landslides due to the heavy rain and has increased surveillance in high-risk areas.
Meanwhile, tourists have found themselves caught off guard by the sudden change in weather.
Many are already preparing to check out of their hotels earlier than planned.
