Home to the world’s longest uninterrupted sandy sea beach, Cox’s Bazar is often called the tourism capital of Bangladesh. Popular destinations like Kolatoli, Sugandha, Laboni, Himchari, Inani, and Patuartek attract thousands of visitors each year. But beyond these well-known spots lies a treasure trove of hidden beauty along the stunning 80-kilometer stretch of Marine Drive.

Here are four lesser-known but incredibly scenic locations along Marine Drive that promise a quieter, more intimate experience with nature:

Bhangrr Mor

Located right where Marine Drive begins from Kolatoli, Bhanger Mor is a peaceful beach bend that escapes the usual tourist crowds. Locals also refer to it as “Member Ghat.” If you’re headed down Marine Drive, make sure to pause here and soak in the serenity of the sea without the bustle.

Darianagar

A short drive past Bhanger Mor will take you to Darianagar, a scenic point famous for its unique blend of sea and mountains. From the Daryanagar Bridge, you can view the ocean on one side and towering green hills on the other. The area offers thrilling parasailing and features a quirky theme park that you enter through a giant shark sculpture. Don’t miss the small cave inside the park and the breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline from the nearby hilltop.

Kakra Beach at Pechar Dwip

Located in the Ramu upazila, just beyond Himchari, Pēchar Dwip is home to the tranquil Crab Beach. You’ll cross a charming bamboo-and-wooden bridge—locally known as the “Crab Bridge”—to reach this peaceful shore. Flanked by thick rows of casuarina trees (jhāubon), the trail feels like a scene out of mini Switzerland. Crab Beach also offers parasailing for thrill-seekers.

Sonarpara Beach – A Photographer’s Dream

Just past the Rejukhal Bridge lies the hidden Sonarpara Beach. Lush with jhāu trees and gentle waves, this beach is gaining popularity for its photogenic vibes—thanks in part to Kajal, the now-viral mobile photographer known for capturing memorable portraits. Here, visitors can sip on fresh coconut water and unwind in hammocks under the trees.

Whether you’re chasing adventure or simply searching for quiet moments by the sea, these off-the-beaten-path spots along Marine Drive offer a refreshing escape from the crowded tourist trails. So, next time you’re in Cox’s Bazar—venture a little further, and let nature surprise you.
