A total of 302 municipal sanitation workers are actively engaged in cleaning Qurbani waste from the alleys and main roads of Cox’s Bazar city following the Eid-ul-Azha festivities.
City officials from the municipal authority are on the ground directly supervising the ongoing waste removal operations.
Kobir Hossain, Conservancy Inspector of Cox’s Bazar Municipality, reported that waste collected from various parts of the city is being loaded onto dump trucks and heavy-duty vehicles and transported to designated disposal sites.
Since yesterday afternoon, over 50 vehicles, including dump trucks, water tankers, and vans, have been deployed to residential areas for round-the-clock waste collection. Additionally, sanitation workers are spraying water and bleaching powder at slaughtering spots to neutralize odors and maintain hygiene.
According to Kobir Hossain, the municipality has made preparations to remove an estimated 150 tons of sacrificial waste this year.
