Though it’s not peak pineapple season, juicy pineapples from the hill district of Bandarban are now being sold in fruit shops across Cox’s Bazar — much to the delight of pineapple lovers.

According to a local fruit vendor, large-sized pineapples are being sold for Tk 100 to Tk 120 each, while the small to medium-sized ones range from Tk 50 to Tk 60.

“We bring these pineapples wholesale from Bandarban,” he said.

Farmers in the hilly areas of Bandarban typically plant pineapple saplings in March and April.

The region’s unique climate and terrain make it ideal for cultivating this popular seasonal fruit, known for its sweet and tangy flavor.
