Cox’s Bazar is experiencing intense heat, leaving residents and visitors struggling in the scorching weather.

As a result, tourist turnout at the seaside remains comparatively low even on the weekly holiday.

Red-and-yellow flags have been placed along the beach, indicating that the sea remains safe for swimming.

Seeking relief from the heat, many tourists are entering the salty seawater to cool off.

Most visitors are swimming at the three designated points—Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha. However, for safety reasons, Sea Safe Lifeguard authorities have urged tourists to follow several important instructions.

According to the lifeguards, specific swimming zones have been marked within the three designated points where lifeguard services are available.

The safe areas have been identified using red-and-yellow flags or red flags. Tourists have been warned that swimming outside the marked zones could be dangerous.

Mohammad Osman Gani, supervisor and senior lifeguard of Sea Safe Lifeguard, told Cox’s Bazar Life that the sea beach remains calm for now, although conditions may change within the next few days.

Red-and-yellow flags have been placed to indicate safe swimming areas, he added.

“However, some spots have developed holes and channels beneath the water, which can be risky. We advise tourists to swim only within the designated areas where lifeguard services are available,” he also said.

Today, Friday (22 May), low tide is expected at 2:25 pm, while high tide will begin at 7:50 pm.

Authorities also warned that ignoring warning signals or lifeguard instructions while swimming could lead to serious accidents at any time.
