From early Tuesday morning, the skies over Cox’s Bazar seemed heavy with melancholy.
The sun remained hidden behind thick clouds, while light drizzles fell intermittently, casting a wistful mood across the seaside town. Yet, the gentle showers did little to ease the stifling heat that had gripped the area.
Across the city, pedestrians were seen struggling with the sudden rain. Some carried umbrellas, while others sought shelter under shop awnings or large trees.
Instead of bringing relief, the drizzle only seemed to add to the discomfort, intensifying the sticky, humid weather.
“This kind of gloomy weather usually appears at the tail end of the monsoon,” said local resident Misbaur Rahman.
“There are clouds and rain, but no wind. I’m drenched in sweat—it feels like the heat is trapped inside the clouds,” he added.
Tourists, too, appeared slightly disheartened, as the absence of sunlight dimmed the usual charm of the sea. Still, some found a silver lining, saying there is a unique thrill in watching the waves roll under the misty drizzle.
