Mohammad Raffan, a dedicated environmental activist and desirous cyclist, recently completed a unique cycling expedition in Cox’s Bazar’s Chakaria Upazila. “Project 19” aimed to promote environmental awareness by traveling across 18 unions and one municipality, addressing plastic pollution, tree planting, and conservation.

Raffan, from Chhoalia Para village in Koyarbil Union, Chakaria, was inspired by his mother’s stories of long-distance cycling. He embraced it as a means of transportation and a way of life.

His journey spanned beyond Chakaria, reaching areas like Lama and Pekua, where he encountered diverse cultures and ways of life.

During his expedition, Raffan enjoyed the natural beauty of Chakaria and gained firsthand experience of the joys and challenges of cycling. The 2020 establishment of Easy Riders Bicycle Club, Chakaria, supported his mission.

Throughout his journey, Raffan engaged with local communities, raising awareness about the harmful impacts of plastic pollution and the importance of protecting the environment. He hopes his journey will inspire others to join the movement for a cleaner, greener future.
