To commemorate World Refugee Day 2025, a prize distribution ceremony for essay and art competitions was held on Thursday at Camp 4 of the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.
Organized jointly by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and partner humanitarian agencies, the event celebrated the creative talents of both Rohingya and local Bangladeshi youth.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Md. Mostafizur Rahman, the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), Md. Mizanur Rahman, and senior officials from UNHCR and other relevant agencies were also present.
This year’s theme, “Solidarity with Refugees,” emphasized unity and support for displaced populations. During the ceremony, awards and special recognitions were presented to the winning participants from both the refugee and host communities, fostering hope and mutual understanding through creative expression.
