The 10th batch of the ‘Gender Etiquette’ training was completed today in Cox’s Bazar, with participation from bus drivers and supervisors from various bus operating companies. The main objective of the training was to ensure professional, courteous, and gender-sensitive behaviour towards passengers, making Cox’s Bazar a safe, respectful, and tourist-friendly destination.

As part of the training, participants were taught how to maintain courteous and professional conduct with tourists and how to create an equal and harmonious environment by eliminating gender-based discrimination. The initiative aims to enhance the international standards and safety of the tourism sector in Cox’s Bazar.

The event was graced by Mr. Rafiqul Islam, Member Secretary of NCCWE, Cox’s Bazar District Committee, who stated, “If the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar road is expanded to six lanes, it will revolutionize the tourism industry. Moreover, transport sector workers, especially bus-related staffs, should offer the highest level of courtesy to tourists so that they are encouraged to visit Cox’s Bazar repeatedly. He would like to thank ILO and Enroute for such initiatives.”

This training is part of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) ISEC project, which Enroute is implementing. The project focuses on skill development and creating sustainable economic opportunities for youth and women in Cox’s Bazar, centred around the tourism sector.

The participating bus drivers and supervisors pledged to request passengers not to litter or dispose of plastic waste around the city and commit to providing services with the utmost professionalism during every trip.
