Cox’s Bazar has recorded a bumper yield of Aman paddy in the 2025–26 fiscal year, thanks to favourable weather, timely agricultural support, and effective pest and disease management. Officials say this year’s Aman season has been highly promising across the district.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), the cultivation target for Aman in the district’s nine upazilas was set at 78,730 hectares. In reality, 78,485 hectares were cultivated—almost perfectly aligned with the target.
The district aimed to produce 387,351 metric tonnes of paddy. Of this, 207,461 metric tonnes have already been harvested. DAE data shows that in the 2024–25 season, the total cultivated area for Aman was 78,350 hectares.
DAE’s Deputy Director in Cox’s Bazar, Bimal Kumar Pramanik, said favourable weather conditions played a key role in achieving strong yields this year. He added that they are optimistic about meeting the production target.
With ongoing technical support, field-level guidance, and enhanced awareness, farmers were able to manage pests and diseases in a timely manner.
He noted that sound advice on fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides helped reduce production costs while increasing overall yield.
Across the fields, farmers are now completing the busy season—harvesting, drying, and preparing their produce for market.
