During a gathering of some of Hollywood’s most influential women, Selena Gomez, star of Emilia Pérez, delivered a powerful keynote address emphasizing the need to prioritize mental health, especially in underserved communities.
At the Academy Women’s Luncheon, Gomez highlighted the importance of taking actionable steps to make mental health resources accessible to those often overlooked. The singer and actor, who has openly shared her experience with bipolar disorder, stressed the value of collective efforts.
In 2020, Gomez launched the Rare Impact Fund alongside her Rare Beauty cosmetics line, committing 1% of all sales to support mental health initiatives aimed at young people. “When we unite, we can make a real impact,” she said.
Reflecting on her own experiences, Gomez spoke about the isolating nature of mental health struggles and the comfort found in solidarity. “Being here with all these incredible women reminds me I’m not alone. Together, we can create a ripple effect that transcends our individual lives,” she said.
