Under a cloudy sky and rising tides, local fishers remain busy collecting and sorting bagda shrimp fry along the coast of Ukhiya Upazila. Rahmat Ullah, a local fisher, said this season yields more shrimp fry than other times of the year. Nets are set in advance on dry sand, and as tidal waves intensify, fry carried by the current become trapped and are later collected and cleaned by family members. He added that current prices for 1,000 shrimp fry range from 400 to 450 taka, with daily collection reaching 6,000–7,000 fry, depending on weather conditions.
