The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised maritime ports including Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra to hoist local warning signal number 3 due to the development of deep convection over the North Bay and adjoining areas.

In a special bulletin issued on Thursday afternoon (May 22), the Met Office warned of possible squally weather affecting the coastal regions and maritime ports.

The bulletin stated that deep convective cloud formation over the North Bay may trigger strong winds across the northern Bay and adjacent coastal areas. As a precaution, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, confirmed the alert and urged all maritime operators and coastal residents to stay updated with weather reports and advisories.
